Thảo Nguyên Phan’s practice—spanning video installations, sculptures, drawings, slideshows, and sonic and visual compositions—is constantly evolving. Her cinematic-painterly approach “explores the intersection of fine art and the social sciences, showing how diverse disciplines can converge to illuminate our history.” Interdisciplinarity and cross-cultural inquiry are central to Phan’s distinctive artistic language.
In her slide projection Forêt, Femme, Folie (2025), inspired by Jacques Dournes’s 1978 book of the same title, documentation becomes transformation. Phan reimagines archival material as a living constellation of bodies, animals, and natural elements, evoking a timeless, placeless spirit.
