For our inaugural participation at Art Dubai, we are pleased to present a selection of works by Sheila Hicks, Machiko Ogawa, and Kenjiro Okazaki. These three artists transcend cultural boundaries, offering a distinctive perspective on the dialogue between East and West, tradition and innovation. Their works provide a profound exploration of materiality, form, color, and cultural exchange, perfectly resonating with Art Dubai’s mission to showcase pioneering and diverse artistic practices.

  • Kenjiro Okazaki, At that moment, a golden-gleaming green lizard runs along the edge of the iron cage. The roses the boy was gathering gleamed like rubies. “Oh, Mama, this little heart of tears, love, and death that you just gave me is truly a terrible flower.” Finally, the child brought a rose and then said the beautiful child had given it to him. “Can you smell the scent of storm, tears, and happiness?” As the sun dipped below the horizon, while painted the sky in hues of orange and red., 2024

  • Kenjiro Okazaki, I find myself hoping he might not be there. Vishnu dreams, worlds take shape, evolve, dissolve in endless cycles. Yet equally hoping that he will be. He is there, swelling. Like a child born spontaneously from crevices, Vishnu lies upon causal ocean. From his body emanates material universes. He crawls up onto my shoulder, regarding me as part of wall., 2024
